Royal Dutch Shell has been accused of supporting the execution and torture of protesters opposed to its operations in Nigeria during the 1990s. As a lawsuit against the company over the issue was due to go to trial in New York, the oil company agreed to settle out of court, paying .5m to the families of executed activists. Al Jazeera’s Andrew Simmons reports.
